Connection vs Conversation

Just after the half way point in Carl Newport's Digital Minimalism. He brings up an example where someone's attempt to use less social media made their friends think they were not friends anymore - Carl suggested actually having real life conversaion with them.

I may be grasping at straws here, but I have 2 friends I think fit neatly into that story; one of them, we will call person M, is on tik tok all the time, and the other has very little social media, we will call them person T. Person T has tried to make numerous occasions to have real conversaion with person M, and has continually been let down.

Has person M's excessive replacement of connection for conversation struck at their ability to withstand conversation?
