Thoughts Of A Guy Named Mason

Creative Commons

At school last week in art, I was learning about creative commons licenses. Because I am making a photography book and I need to license it under something and I dont think all rights should be reserved on art.

in creative commons, there are 3 main parts that can be mixed around a bit to form more complex licenses. The main parts are; Sharealike(SA), Non-Comercial(NC) and Non-Derivative(ND).

Sharealike means that all derivatives must be publised under the same license, it is copyleft. And the others are self explanatory.

For my book I have chosen CC BY-NC-SA. Which means derivative can be made but not for comercial purposes and they must have the same license attached to it. I chose this because I want people to be able to remix and modify my art - but also, it is my art, and I don't want people making money off my art without my permission.

and sharealike because yes.

also, this blog will now be CC BY-NC-SA. (except where overwise noted)
