Education ministers should be split into two separate positions.
The same guy should not be in charge of getting pedophiles out of preschools and getting creating a system that encourages teenagers to learn more.
While the first example isn't local to me, it is influencing policies in childcare centers in south Australia.
Blair Boyer is the south Australian minister for education. I met him once, he was just a kind person, even though I was fairly certain we had very different ideas of how high schools should be run.
But then i argue to myself that I cannot expect someone with so much on their plate to be ideal. I also need to remember that changes don't happen other night.
Also, today I saw on the news for the few seconds that it terrorised me while eating dinner. That this man is also responsible for early childcare...
This confused me a lot because that is a very different type of learning compared to what I do..
And so instead of dealing with this, I have another idea; Separate the education minister into two positions, one for high school and above, and another for primary school and below.
I say this because the responsibilities of the two sectors are very different. Primary school focuses on literally the bare basics through rote learning. And high school should get students to do project based learning and inquiry.
Yes I know I probably don't understand what the education minister does properly and this is coming from the completely wrong angle. But I am tired and do not particularly care to change what I have just written.
