one year is long
Recently Art has taken up a more prominent place in my life. Forever, creation of some sort has always been a big part of what I enjoy. Still, in the past month and a bit visual arts have taken up more and more of my time.
The time to do this is largely gathered from the fact that I havent tried making a video game for 6 ish months or something, and video games which yeah have taken 4-500 hours of my time this year, but that consitent time sink has shrunk in replacement of art.
Its kind of funny when you actually look at how much time there is in a year. There are 8760 hours in one. Thats a fucking lot of time, assume and guess 3/8ths of that is how much time I spend sleeping then thats 3285.
8760 - 3285 is 5475.
That is over 5 thousand hours I spend awake.
I spend 6 hours at school each day, 5 days a week 40 weeks a year is 1200.
5475 - 1200 is 4275.
so 4 thousand hours i dont have anything planned?
If i spent every waking hour practising the same thing then it would still take me upwards of 3 years to meet the 10 thousand hours rule - why is it called a rule?
Anyway... I feel like ive done math wrong? what the fuck have i spent time doing?
assume 500 hours spent playing video games, so we are at 3875.
music? I am too lazy to wait until spotify wrapped happens, I think literally next week. So I will guestimate; on average I would say about 3 hours per day? including weekends and school holidays where I have my headphones in all day.
so, uh 365 x 3 = 1095.
Holy shit thats a lot of time, usually tho I am multitasking, writing a blog post or drawing while I listen.
Okay.. here is something I share quite shamefully. On average, in the past week, youtube says I have spent 3 hours a day watching youtube. HOLY FUCKING SHIT. so another 1000 hours a year lost to 20 minute videos from random people? there is no way the youtubers I actually watch collectivly make that much media each year.
OK... wow. If anyone else wants to see that on youtube then (and only in the mobile app for some reason) click on the settings icon and then scroll until you find time managment.
which leaves us with roughly 2000 hours of time spent doing unmeasured things.
Part of this includes getting ready for school every day.
Part of this includes making things
Part of this includes doing stuff that isnt sitting at a desk.
I should watch less youtube.
And OMG There is sooo much time to do things, as long as you look at the right scale.
