Thoughts Of A Guy Named Mason

Reliable

a lot of the technology in my life has become soo unreliable that i get a dopamine hit when a computer does what i tell it to. so wow do i love using my 6 year old thinkpad running fedora.

laptops we are forced to use at school take 8 seconds to open explorer and 20 minutes to cold boot. they are brand new, but loaded with spyware that is constantly running the cpu a solid 30 percent usage.

my phone takes 3 seconds to wake the screen from sleep and another 5 before it even tries to listen to the fingerprint sensor to unlock it.

my work roster takes 10 seconds to load the roster and when we are sent a message through it which is usually for fancy weird bussiness things because we use whatsapp for everything else, it takes a minute of loading for it to display anything.

pressing the power button on my fan does not turn it off.

my windows gaming laptop may take 30 seconds to cold boot but also that loads steam and pings the valve servers and boots into big picture mode, and it wakes from sleep in 5 seconds and when i want to play a video game... it plays a video game.

my ender 3 everyone calls unreliable straight up just works without me worrying about it.

my pentax a3 takes photos when i press the shutter

my casio watch tells the time

my 6 year old thinkpad running fedora has weirdly good battery life and just works because i know how a terminal works

soomehow even my jbl bluetooth headphones work. linux does have mature bluetooth drivers and it does not fuck with you like windows does.
