Thoughts Of A Guy Named Mason

Selfishness

We all experience it.

On a spectrum, from selfless to selfish, I do not believe anyone lands on selfless.

Many people can be comparatively selfless in many situations. And I would like to stress that where people are on this spectrum changes throughout the day.

But people can still be selfish, like really really selfish.

So then I ask why this is? I believe it is simply because we are humans. From an evolutionary standpoint the person that saves themselves and goes on to reproduce is at an advantage to the person who tries to save the others and fails.

I am selfish too.

Currently I am selfish in the way I respond to other people being selfish to the point it is rude. I do not have the energy nor do I particularly want to feel the burden that comes with thinking about how they feel and empathising.
